The Samsung Galaxy A55 is the latest contender in the mid-range market, aiming to build upon the success of its predecessor, the A54. It steps up the processing power with the new Exynos 1480 processor and AMD Xclipse 530 GPU, instead of the Exynos 1380 SoC on the previous model.
This should easily translate to improved and smoother performance, especially for gamers and multitaskers. Likewise, the base RAM gets bumped to 8GB, with a powerhouse 12GB option for those who need more from their devices. The software wing also keeps things fresh with the latest Google Android 14 pre-installed instead.
Coming to the camera system, you are getting some tweaks here and there, however, no spectacular upgrade is seen anywhere. You are still getting a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, 12MP UW lens and a third 5MP macro sensor, while a single 32MP selfie snapper is used on the front.
However, the A55 does boast a larger 6.6-inch display compared to the A54’s 6.4 inches, but the resolution remains FHD+. Also, the built quality is a lot better on the A55 compared to it predecessor.
For example, the display is now protected by Corning Gorilla Victus+ instead of the previous CGG5. Also, the entire device is now held together using an aluminum, instead of the plastic frame from the previous A54.
